Tech,
XBOX 360

While playing Call of Duty: MW3 on my old Xbox 360 Elite, I noticed some strange black lines appearing in the background. I switched around cables, ports etc as I assumed it was a cable issue, but the problem stayed.
So ‘google is your friend’, and I found a handful of forum posts suggesting that the Xbox was on it’s way out, and these black lines were early signed of the Red Ring of Death, and I could soon expect to see the E74 error message.
Now Microsoft have given an additional 2 years warranty to cover the RROD, but unfortunately the Elite is nearly 3 and a half years old…..so time to buy a new shiny one !
I spent the evening looking at online deals, and finally decided that I wanted one of the special edition Xbox’s. I currently own the Halo Reach special edition Xbox and know there are currently 2 others on the market, the MW3 edition and the Gears of War 3 edition…..so decided to go with the Gears of War 3 edition.
Same as the Halo Reach special edition Xbox, it comes with a custom paint job, custom sounds and 2 custom controllers, and obviously a copy of Gears of War 3. The guy who served me at Game also threw in a copy of Crisis 2 (via download code), so all in all quite a bargain at considering it has the 320Gb hard drive.
One final thought, the controllers are the new type with the transforming D pad, it’s still early days with it, but WOW what a difference !
As always, the unboxing pics are below.

Microsoft,
XBOX 360

Now anybody that knows me, will know I’m a sucker for shiny things, and nothing comes more shiny that this limited edition Xbox 360s.
I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a 2nd xbox for a while now, and when I found out that the Kinect device required a special port, (or an adapter), I thought I’d hang fire until this bad boy was release.
Currently I have the Xbox 360 Elite, and to be honest I’m very happy with it, I’ve rarely had a problem, and defiantly not had any red rings of death.
So, today’s the day, and I’ve finally got it (Thank you to C for the early birthday present). I was actually shocked how much smaller this is than the Xbox Elite, it’s casing is noticeably smaller, and hell of a lot quieter.
The Xbox itself is one of the new Xb0x 360S models with a 250Gb Hard drive. It comes with 2 limited edition controllers, and a headset.
Now granted, this this looks cool, but nowhere near as cool as the noises it makes when you power on, and open the DVD drive…these are actual Halo sound effects
Obviously you get a copy of Halo Reach, a token for Limited Edition Elite armour and an episode of Halo Legends.
The console was pretty cheap from Game.co.uk, especially as it’s the new model, with 2 controllers and a brand new game.
As always, the unboxing images are below.
If you want to know how Halo Reach is, keep an eye on my Game review site D5120.com, I’ll post a review once I’ve competed it.

XBOX 360

As some of you may know, back in October I got a Xbox 360 Elite for my birthday, with Halo 3. Now before I could play Halo 3, I had to complete Halo 2 on the PC, as I’d done the first, but needed complete the play and complete the 2nd, to fill in the story arc.
The 2nd problem I had was that I’ve been a PC gamer for a long as I can remember, and playing a FPS (First Person Shooter) with a controller, it’s just not natural.
Over Christmas I spent a fair amount of time playing FarCry2 on the Xbox 360 and Resistance on the PS3. After many hours of practice I was able to take out my enemies without dying all the time.
This weekend, thought it was about time I got my butt in gear and played Halo 3. I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews, some people hated it, some loved it….me….I really enjoyed it !
It took me about 10 hours to beat on Normal setting, and that’s with me being a controller amateur, loved the story, the vehicles, and especially loved the way you can snap a gun turret off it’s stand, and go on a rampage with it
Personally I’d give it a 8 out of 10.
